Despite being in exile since 1989, the Tibetan artist continues to develop the rich musical seams of her Himalayan homeland. Based in New York City, Yungchen Lhamo’s searing voice has graced stages around the world. Her name means Goddess of Melody, and her texts focus on the mountains of her native Lhasa, the beauty of nature and of the blue sky, and devotional Buddhist incantations. Articulate and modest, Lhamo has become one of her nation’s most visible Ambassadors.
